Watch the dice tumble from the tower, scan your hand for the card that shares zero traits with the roll, and slam it down at breakneck speed in a fast-paced game of reverse pattern matching.
Not It! (Spot the card that doesn't match. Do it fast... Do not be last!) (created and published by The Good Game Company and distributed across hobby and specialty retail by partners including Outset Media / OSM) flips traditional matching mechanics entirely on their head. Rather than looking for identical symbols or colors, players must rapidly identify what is missing. The core gameplay objective centers on hand shedding and visual reflex speed: 3 dice tumble through the central dice tower, revealing a combination of attributes, and players race simultaneously to spot and play a card from their hand that does not match any of the rolled results, aiming to be the first to dump their entire hand.
The primary mechanical hurdle stems from processing negative visual attributes under high-speed real-time pressure. Each roll of the three custom dice displays a unique combination across three dimensions: Color, Pattern, and Character. While standard brain reflexes push players to identify similarities, Not It! forces players to perform instant process-of-elimination—locating a card in hand where the character, color, and pattern are all completely different from what is showing on the dice. Once you spot a valid non-matching card, you must slap it into the center discard pile before your rivals do. Speed is critical: making a mistake by playing a matching card inflicts a penalty, while being the slowest player to react leaves you stuck with your cards. Designed for 3 or more players aged 6 and up, a complete frantic match wraps up in an energetic 10 to 15 minutes. To avoid being "It," you must rewire your visual instincts, trust your reflexes, and get rid of every card before the competition catches up.
